What a busy last few weeks of the term!

hello blog readers

This week started with Miss Li talking to the children about Chinese new year. She brought in a paper dragon, paper lanterns and red money envelopes. We learnt that red is a lucky colour and we were all able to say “Happy New Year” in Chinese. We watched a video of dragon dancing and we had a go at some Chinese writing, which looks very different to our letters!

We were very excited to have a visit from a Paralympic athlete Ben Rushgrove. The children took part in an exercise routine with him and listened to him talk about his racing, in an assembly.

We also had a visit from Kevin a coach for the British basketball team. He brought in wheelchairs so we could all have a go and it was great fun, take a look!

This week the children took part in a British folk music festival. We learnt two country dances and got to dance with a partner. We learnt how to keep a beat pattern of 8 and our visitor was very impressed with our music skills.

This week is Internet Safety Week, we have been learning how to stay safe online with the help of our friend, ‘Smartie the Penguin’. he taught us a song it goes like this…
“before you click, click, click
you gotta think, think, think
and tell someone”
There are lots of resources about how to keep your children safe online in your digital parenting magazine. A good book to read with your child about safety is called ‘Penguinpig’ and smartie the penguin story is available on www.childnet.com/resources/smartie-the-penguin

Thank you to everyone who attended parents evening your input in your child’s education is invaluable. It was also lovely to see so many of you at open morning.
Have a fun and safe half term, look out for more news next term.
