What a busy start 6b have had to term 6.
Monday started with a whole school Polish cultural day. We researched the country; it’s history and culture. Working in groups, we then had the choice of 72 ways to present our work. We chose: a quiz, a soap opera style drama, a puppet show and a personal favourite or Mrs Waldon-The Poldashians.
On Wednesday we visited the John West renewable energy showroom. We found out about many alternatives for energy in our houses rather than using fossil fuels. We were so surprised by all of the different things that are available to our homes. Did you know that some solar panels are for making electricity and some are used for heating water?
On Friday we had visitors from EDF work with us. We were working as engineers and had time working on three stations: electricity, wind turbines and bridge design. We had to work with a partner to design electrical circuits that would make a fan or bell or both work! We also had a competition to make a wind turbine that would generate the highest number of volts. As well as this, we had a design a bridge and kate it out of straws. It was then tested to see whether our chosen design was strong enough.
