Harry Potter Night – Waterstone’s visit

Today, a group of Witches, Wizards and Muggles set off on the mini-bus to Waterstones. We had been invited to celebrate Harry Potter Night with them- and we were very excited!

We caused quite a stir as we paraded through the Sovereign Centre- I suppose it’s not often you see a group of magical folk when you’re out shopping!

We received a warm welcome from the  staff in Waterstone’s who were all dressed up and ready to receive us. In the children’s department, we found Professor Sian who was leading the morning’s activities. She started by reading us a section from ‘Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone’. Then it was time for a quiz! Fortunately, our wizarding brains were on top form and we conjured up the answers brilliantly!

Sian then read to us about Harry’s attempts at conjuring a Patronus and we thought about the animal we would have as ours. This started a lively discussion and we drew our ideas.

While having drinks and delicious snacks, we enjoyed browsing the books- some of use were lucky enough to have some money to spend!IMG_3594

To free House Elves, you have to give them a piece of clothing so after snacks we searched the whole shop for socks!

Luckily, we found them all- and were rewarded with jelly beans!

The lovely Tonks (Rebecca) judged our Patronus pictures and our costumes and the lucky winners were given book tokens as prizes.

Harry Potter Class of 2016 had a fantastic time at Waterstone’s and we would like to say a huge thank you to the staff there for making us so welcome.

The Year 5 children who came were an absolute credit to the school and were a delight to be with. Members of the public praised them for their politeness and good manners.
