We have had a tremendous start to this first term back with a few WOW days:
To start the Term off, Years 3 and 4 encountered what it might have felt like being in an air raid shelter in WWII!
We all enjoyed a fabulous day at the Tropicana, Weston-super-Mare beach, taking part in races and sandcastle building as well as being entertained by a clown in a balloon!
In addition to this, just last week, Years 3 and 4 enjoyed a World War II ‘Blitz Café’ Day at school. Mr. Griffin kindly came in and introduced the children to many WWII artefacts, such as a siren, ‘a soldier’s dog tag’ and photographs of the Blitz in Weston-super-Mare. We barely recognized him in his original, American soldier uniform (as well as his sons in their military jumpers)! Parents were invited to help make spam sandwiches, rock cakes and refreshing pots of tea for the afternoon tea party!
Meanwhile, in class, the children studied the book, ‘The Mousehole Cat’ and wrote a picture story, recount and diary extract of events from the point of view of ‘Mowzer’ the cat and Tom the fisherman. In Mathematics, Class 3a have been studying different methods to solve addition and subtraction. Please remember to practise X Tables regularly and read at least 3 times a week with your child.
