This has been a busy week!
We have got to chapter 8, page 70, in Varjak Paw. Varjak has finally climbed over the wall and entered the city. He saw a car and thought it was a dog! He is now waiting for us in a shelter. We used pictures from the book, put them in chronological order and created a story map.
In maths we have started to learn about time. We played a yes no game about the days of the week and the months of the year. We have learnt how to convert minutes into hours and hours into minutes. Some of us even broke a cryptic clock code challenge that Miss Edwards set for us.
We learnt about what Mother Theresa did.
On Tuesday, a man called Ben Rushgrove came. He is a Para Olympian, who is deaf, and has won bronze and silver medals which we got to look at! He even ran one of his races with a broken foot! He taught us some exercises; spotty dog, star jumps, press ups and leg drives. We all got out of breath and tired. A few people from each year had to do an exercise that he does each day. It was a mix between skipping and hopping. Imogen from our class was one of the children who had to do this.
We all started our second draft of cats.
We have started the Read to Self part of daily 5. We have been reading in strange places! So far, our best time is 7 minutes and 7 seconds! We did have a time of 1 minute 31 seconds.
We have tried reading a whole class bug club book and have got to chapter 6 of The Birthday Battle. It is amazing
On Friday, we had a very special visitor who bought lots of wheelchairs to school with him. We all got the chance to have a go in the wheelchairs and even played wheelchair basketball. It was great and we all had a great time.
