When we started this new term, we all helped our new teacher, Mr Howell, to settle in to his new class. These two weeks have been exciting, interesting and very busy! We have been busy because we received a letter from the British Museum asking us to make artefacts and objects about our topic.
Our Topic – Ancient Greece
Over the last two weeks our new topic has been Ancient Greece and we have been learning loads . We made lots of interesting artefacts such as laurel crowns , Medussa plates, weaving, masks, pots, vases and food. This Monday Demetri – who is an excellent Greek chef and runs a restaurant in Weston- super-Mare called Demetri’s! – visited us and told us lots of interesting facts and stories about Greece. He also taught 12 children how to cook some traditional Greek food, all of us enjoyed the delicious meal. Thank you very much Demetri.
Yesterday (14.1.16) years 5 & 6 arranged an exhibition about Ancient Greece and an expert from the British Museum came to look at our work. He thought our artefacts were of outstanding quality and that we did a great job as Museum guides. Demetri and lots of our parents and carers also visited and explored our exhibition; everyone loved it. We enjoyed the experience and also enjoyed learning so much in just two weeks, Mr Howell , Mr Matthews and all of the adults at our school have been very impressed.
