We were split into 3 working groups and rotated around the museum looking at the sea side disply, the artifacts and also Clara’s Cottage. After looking around the cottage and understanding what it was like to live in a Victorian house we stepped outside and were greeted by Clara herself!

She was dressed in her pinny, shawl and mop cap and was scrubbing bed sheets in a tin tub. We sat and listened to her telling us about how hard life was in the Victorian era. So that she could have a rest from her washing, she invited a few of us to use the scrubbing board and squeeze soaking wet sheets through a mangle.

Saturday 18th April is the last day that the museum is open for two years! Schhol children can visit for free so get down there!
