Another busy and happy week in 6a!
This week, we worked with children from the other Trust schools as part of a joint writing project. On Monday, the ‘junior journalists’ from Bournville Primary set off to the Weston Bay end of the beach to look at ways in which it could be developed and improved. The children were excellent and really took the task seriously. Although it was very chilly, they found lots of evidence to support their writing.
Each child has chosen an area to write a newspaper article about, persuading the council/ local community to make changes. I was so impressed with the ideas the children came up with -topics such as littering, wheelchair/ buggy access, making that area more attractive- they were so thoughtful! We obviously have some leaders in the making amongst us!
Having looked at planning, improving the language choices and the structure of our writing, we were ready to write our final pieces. On Thursday, we were joined by four pupils from Oldmixon and four children from Year 6 visited other schools. After spending some time writing, we shared some of our pieces of work and were very impressed with how well everyone presented their ideas!
On Monday, we also had a visit from Tim, who came to talk to us about Easter. He was very interesting as ever!
In maths, we have been revising lots of areas and continuing to learn new things. Learning tables to so important- so please keep supporting your children at home with this!
Next week, we are looking forward to a visit from M G Leonard, the author of ‘Beetle Boy’!
