Harry Potter Book Night

The 5th February 2015 saw the first ever Harry Potter Book Night celebrated throughout the world and here at Bournville Primary School, in partnership with XTND, we celebrated with our own special evening of wizard activities.

The fun started at 3:30pm with staff and pupils dressed as Professors, Witches, Wizards, Muggles and we even had a Dobby the House Elf! It all began with the Sorting Ceremony, where the Sorting hat decided who would be in which house.

Professor Wilsher shared an excerpt from Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone to kick start the fun. Students were then pitted against each other as fierce House rivals in a magical themed treasure hunt in Diagon Alley to earn house points and sweets for their House team and were then able to have their photographs taken at “Platform 9 ¾”.

Scrumptious wizard foods and drinks were served from the “Honeydukes Express Sweet Trolley” for all to enjoy.

Fierce House rivalry resumed with an exciting Harry Potter Trivia Challenge, hosted by Quizmaster Professor Baker. Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw and Slytherin all performed exceptionally well in all the challenges and went home on their broomsticks with a certificate in hand!

Thank you to all the staff who stayed to help on the night and to all of the Year 5 and 6 witches, wizards, muggles and Dobby, who helped us to celebrate the magical world of Harry Potter.
