5a news update

Hello and welcome to 5a news blog.

This week we have not only had Children-in-need but it was also Parliament week.

Today we were visited by John Penrose MP who gave us an insight into his role. The school council have been busy this week as they had prepared questions for him to answer during his visit and they also recorded speeches for us to watch so that we could vote for a council chairperson, deputy chair and council secretary. Congratulations to the successful candidates.

As it was Parliament week, we also had several debates in the classroom. Our English lessons were about persuasion so we could use the persuasive techniques we had learnt during our debates.

To help support children in need, we have been collecting coins during the week and the challenge was to fill as many Pudseys as possible. Here is a picture of our achievements. We are all impressed with our efforts and think we may have filled more than the other classes but we will find out on Monday. Thank you to all the parents and carers that helped us by making a donation. We also dressed in spots and there was a cake sale in school to raise money.
