We have made a good start to year 5 and are enjoying it.
Our topic is called ‘Lives, Laws and Legends’. We started the topic with a WOW day when an Anglo-Saxon visited us! Colourful shields were made before his visit and that meant we were ready to go into battle at the end of the day. This week we have thought about why the Saxons may have invaded Britain and evaluated two sources to decide which gave the best information.
In maths, we have looked at place value and are currently working on addition and subtraction using both written methods and mental strategies.
Our English text is Beowulf and we are keen to read on as it promises to be full of adventure. At the beginning of the term, we talked about safety and made posters.
We have had a fantastic Big Day out where we spent time with other schools at the beach. There were sports activities, we made sand sculptures and watched a man climb into a balloon!
Also this week, some of us in the class were invited to go and watch a wrestling match. Mrs Berry was very proud of our behaviour.
Thank you for reading our post.
