we’ve had a very busy couple of weeks in 1B. Having returned from the Christmas holidays full of energy, the children have worked very hard to challenge their learning and improve themselves where possible. It is lovely to see so many children not only happy to be in school but also very eager to learn.
Our new topic, “Wild about Life”, is proving to be a huge hit with the children as we begin to look at rmore and more animals and their habitats. So far we have focused on the African Savannah but soon we will be going as far as the Russain Taiga forest as well as a little closer to home. Speaking of closer to home, we gave begun to think about our own school wildlife area and how we can make this an inviting habitat for local British wildlife. The children donned their wellie boots and we trekked other. For some of us, it was out first time visiting the pond area. The children came up with lots of ideas on how to improve the space, including an idea to improve the walkway so it’s accessible for everyone all year round.
Of course, our new topic started off with a WOW trip to Paignton Zoo. The children (and staff) had a marvellous time and enjoyed seeing all the animals as well as the lessons on the rain forest. The weather was very kind to us and so was the traffic! We hope that this trip will become a regular one in KS1.
Back in class, we are continuing our new Daily 5 scheme which we hope will develop the children into keen readers for the future.
