Hello Penguin and Seal followers

This week we have been learning all about space.

The children were asked what they already knew about space.

“There is a half moon at night” said Mason

“Space has lots of stars there is a half moon and a full moon” said Dylan

“The sun comes up in the morning” said Max

“I just realised something the moon is a sphere” said Jessica

We then acted out the story of ‘Whatever Next’ which was great fun as some of us were already familiar with this story from pre-school.

Then we had a challenge to work in pairs at group time to build a rocket together.

The children demonstrated great team work and collaboration, talking to each other about their ideas.  The teachers observed some lovely comments from children detailing their rockets and what all the different parts were for.  The children worked together to join all their materials together and then labelled their rocket.

We have talked about Tim Peak and how is currently orbiting Earth in the international Space Station.  In the next few weeks we are going to attempt to communicate with him!

Next week we are going on our school trip to @Bristol.  We are so excited and everyday ask the teachers if we are going!!
