Seals and Penguins are going for a song!

Welcome back blog readers!

In Reception we have learnt a new story ‘Going for a song’. This is another Pie Corbett story we are using to practise our storytelling skills. The main themes of this story are friendship, collaboration, animals and life cycles and changes as we get older. This has led to lots of pretend play as we try out different roles such as hairdresser, police person, fire officer or teacher.

We are exploring the themes of this story and have been discussing what we can do now that we could not do as a baby and what we would like to be when we are older.
Our role play area is a home for the elderly and the children have been very caring when looking after Arthur and Martha our elderly puppets.

In maths we have been doubling and learning our number bonds to five, we even wrote a sum using the addition sign.

In phonics we are focussing on using and applying all learnt sounds in step 2 and spelling sight words. Thank you for helping your child at home. We are noticing more children bringing their book-bags daily and reading at home.

Look out for more updates next week, thanks for stopping by!
